Repair Tracking (1)

How do I find the status of my repair?

We have an in-house system for managing the status of all repairs, past, present, and future. When you released your computer into our custody, it was entered into this system, and you received a claim ticket as receipt. With your claim ticket, you have two options. First, you may check your claim status by visiting our status page. On this page you will enter your work order ID number, and the last 4 digits of the phone number you gave us. Both fields are required to view the status of the repair.

Alternately, if you have a smart phone with a data connection, you may scan the QR code on your claim ticket to view the status on your phone. Here is an example of this code:

Any QR/bar code scanner app should work for this, but if you want direct links, you could try QR Barcode Scanner for Android, or QR Reader for iPhone, both of which are free apps.

While we do our best to make sure this is always updated as things happen, we can not guarantee that it is always 100% accurate up-to-the-minute information.

Costs for repair can vary, but are usually not very expensive. Our flat rates for most common problems are listed on our services page, however in some cases we may be able to save you some cash on a repair. This is handled on a case-by-case basis. The vast majority of computer problems are covered under our flat-rate tune-up service.

How much will it cost to repair my phone?

Phone repair costs can vary, due to variations in repair complexity and the price of parts.

We do not stock parts for mobile phones, instead opting to special order parts as needed. This means that it will usually take a week or longer to get parts in.

Additionally, with screen replacements, some device manufacturers glue the digitizer (front glass) to the LCD (screen). In these cases, the digitizer and LCD must be replaced as a whole unit, usually resulting in a higher repair cost.

Most screen replacements cost around $100 total, but sometimes more depending on the device and availability of parts.

What is web hosting?

So just what exactly is web hosting, and why do you need it? To really understand what it is, you need a fundamental understanding of what the internet is, and how it works.

The internet is simply a large network of connected computers. Each computer on the internet has its own IP address, represented by a string of numbers. An IP address might look like “192.168.0.1”. There are 4 numbers, ranging from 0-255, separated by periods. Your IP address is how one computer connects to another.

When you type a web address into your browser, such as “www.google.com”, your web browser (Firefox, Chrome, Internet Explorer, Safari, etc.) connects to a DNS server, (Domain name services). Your computer asks the DNS server “I’m looking for google.com”, and the DNS server responds “google.com is at 173.194.70.100”. Your computer then connects to that IP address. The IP address you connect to is a web server, a computer or series of computers that contain the files for your web site. The server then sends the requested information to the computer that requested it.

Web hosting is required in order to have a web site, so that is is accessible by people on the internet. There are many web hosting providers, and hosting for small web sites is usually very inexpensive. The type of hosting you require will depend on your web site, the functions it provides, and how much traffic it will receive.

We can assist you in setting up hosting for your web site if needed. You will require a domain name as well, which is a separate expense. We do not recommend purchasing your domain from your web host, as it limits your ability to control ownership of that domain, or transfer to another host later.
